Thanks, Duncan. Looks like I could go one front sight taller if I need to. That's a great website. I've added it to my favorites list of Enfield resources.
I'm eager to get to the range but winter just seems to be holding on here in Pennsylvania.

No4 Mk1 Front Sight Height
I recently got my first No4 Mk1, a 1943 Maltby. Here's how it looked after degreasing everything, including the wood: http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p142/gunboat57/No4%20Mk1/Maltby1943a_zps567e2c1a.jpg Here's how it looks now after 3 applications of boiled linseed oil, just about right I think, ...

Martini-Henry Markings
I don't post here a lot but sure learn a lot from reading this site. Anyway, I was hoping maybe someone could help me understand some markings on my Martini-Henry. It's a Mk IV that at some time was smoothbored and used probably by a native police dept somewhere. Can anyone figure out where it was u...

Once I got into it, I ended up putting in some .010 inch shims where the trigger lugs bear against the wood to tighten up contact with the butt socket. After that was done, all the other points of contact seemed to be OK. Range time will tell the story. I found much good information in the material ...

Bedding on a No 1 Mk III
I'm trying to find the procedure for proper bedding the fore-end of a No 1 Mk III. I've found documentation for the No 4 but mine is a No 1. Any help would be appreciated.

.075 Front Sight Blade
After trying to get my Martini-Enfield to shoot straight with its worn out barrel, I ended up replacing the barrel with a brand new No1 MkIII barrel. This new barrel is shorter than the original by a few inches so I had to make a new forend for it as well. Anyway, being somewhat lighter than an SMLE...
