Re: ANyone know if Alfred J Parker are still in business?

I bought a SMLE from them a few years back and it has developed a nasty habit of the bolt head un-clipping itself from the raceway track so the bolt head blocks the rear travel of the bolt and of course it wont lock until the bolt head is clipped back into place. I need a half decent smith to take c...

ANyone know if Alfred J Parker are still in business?

Anyone in the UK know if Alfred J Parker's in Birmingham is still in business? I've tried calling their number but just get a message that it will only make outgoing calls and will not receive them? :( Or better still a phone number that I can actually call into their business :) Thanks in advance

Well I was invited to the NRA's local meeting regarding this issue of creating a unified body rather than several. We were all split into small groups and the one outstanding fact from ALL the groups was how much the grass roots shooters disliked the governing bodies of shooting. Not just the NRA, b...

The letters are out. Just read it on the NRA website. Short form is this - Club chairman signs a card that you MUST carry and show when asked by an NRA/MOD official to say that you are competent with the class/classes of firearm. This certification is accredited by your club or clubs that you shoot ...

I agree with the sentiments that this IS a way for the NRA to make money. Besides that we've already seen that government departments can't keep personal data secret. Can you imagine the furor if ALL these names and addresses of FAC holders were to be lost in the post! I went to the South East NATSS...

I'm not sure what the definitive working pressure should be. But when I had a rfile proofed at the Birmingham proof house I asked the question as to what the proof pressure was. I was told as a rule of thumb that the proof pressure was about 30% over maximum working pressure.

Met some friends at a private machine gun shoot held annually in the US. I tried shooting a Boyes back 1998. It was rechambered to .50 BMG and it was still very unpleasant to shoot compared to a Mcmillan .50 b/a rifle that I tried the following year. Have also tried a Barrett semi-auto a couple of y...

Tom Regarding your remarks about collaboration, I was re-watching parts of the sex during the war series shown on one of the digital channels. It seems to make sense that becuase of the fraught situations that people found themselves in that romances at least were created between the opposing forces...

There was a TV program a year or so ago regarding the fall of Britain to the Nazis'. It was really showing the use and deployment of the "special units" of the home guard that were trained for this eventuality. It showed their training equipment and deployment for fighting back at the enem...
