I've shot a lot of GP11 through Swiss rifles, but never beyond 200 yards, and at that range it is hard to improve on.
Here in the US, our Civilian Marksmanship Program lets us use a US GI web sling on such rifles. Do you use a sling there in Jolly Old for 600 yards?

Re: Cast bullets
I've used 185gr Lee and a roughly 200gr modified 314299 with 2400. I like using 2400 in these loads, but I don't believe you will reach 2000fps with good accuracy using it. If I was to pick a powder to try for 2000 fps, I probably would try 4895, which tollerates reduced loads well. The classic arti...

I can't say enough good about Criterion M1917 bbls
I bought a M1917 from CMP that had a barrel that looked dark, but gauged as new at both ends. It would not shoot worth a hoot. I got one of the Criterion M1917 and sent the rifle & barrel to Chuck in Denver, and now it shoots like a dream. If Criterion makes P-14 barrels I may buy a P-14 to hang...

Re: My M1917 at last!
Adjusting windage on a M1917 is usually a pain in the butt because the factory targeted rifles and adjusted the front sight, then heavily staked front sights. You should not have that much trouble. I have never seen a British or US front sight/windage adjustment tool, but I did recently buy one made...

PB is Beretta, BMB is Breda
Those I have seen are very nice. Those I have seen were made for the Danes, and have receiver heel markings like this: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/0603/ddr223/03-176%20Beretta%20Garand/?action=view¤t=b-6.jpg Another article of interest: http://www.smallarmsreview.com/pdf/Berettatypee...

Re: New Smith Corona 03A3
I've had several 03A3 rifles that have been through rebuild, and there's usually initials of an Arsenal or an inspector near the Cartouche under the magazine cut-off.

I can shoot Open sights well, but not w/o effort
The US Civilian Marksmanship Program runs a number of matches that reward those who can shoot Open (non-aperture rear) sights. The CMP .22 Sporter match and the Vintage Military match are those I refer to. Careful blackening of the rear and front sight, and being able to see the front sight seem to ...

Re: Sportered 1917 and 03A3
Plan is to re-militarize them when I can find the wood. The US Civilian Marksmanship Program has some very nice looking wood for 1903A3 rifles. I bought a 1903 from them that had a severely gouged Type C stock on it that looks awful. I'm reluctant to change my stock because the rifle shoots so well...
