What Bayo is this..................

Things a soldier would carry other than firearms, ammo, or uniforms. Meaning equipment such as ammo pouches, bayonets, holsters, oil cans, cleaning equipment, etc.

Dave, there is only one mark on it - a B in a circle, 3rd image down. The shape 3 sided.......

Hi Duncan

I had a good look around the web , Russian or Asian / Chinese would have been a possibility in my mind , but nothing with a square shank came up . Perhaps it was a one off maybe an experimental idea .

Blackisler suggested on the chat yesterday that it is a folding Nagant bayonet. It's made for a Nagant M44 carbine and has the spring loaded piece that locks the barrel ring removed. Seems like he's made a good guess. Either he's right or the rifle it attaches to attaches in the same way and there is something missing.

Or... just maybe. It's from a Carcano carbine?

No. Not Corcano. But same idea again.

Dave... I think you have nailed it. That last link was right on target. I was looking at the wrong Carcano attached bayonet. :loco:

Had you not mentioned Carcano I wouldn't have thought of it . as I looked at the pics you posted I decided to have another look around the net at Carcano and found it . Duncan now has to buy the rifle to fit it on .
