The tail wags the dog: the NRA and gun makers

Post by Niner » Thu Jan 07, 2016 10:03 am

Here's a story from a UK based news source editorializing on the power of the NRA. The premise is a tail wags dog story based on Smith and Wesson attempting to comply with White House gun safety demands and the NRA turning against them and the resulting bankruptcy of that company.
“The NRA and the industry are in bed together in a mutually beneficial relationship. Having said that, I think the industry fears what could happen if it gets out of line. There’s a history where when any member of the industry steps out of line and tries to be ‘the good gunmaker’, or an organisation tries to do that, the NRA has a long and storied history of squishing them like a bug,” he said.

And I guess... so what? It's like a member of a baseball team telling the manager of the other team he will only hit pop ups to center field and won't try to hit any home runs and the team he is on firing him as a result. But... maybe there is something to find fault with in that the NRA is playing an all or nothing game with no compromise too.

Any opinion?
