Model 1863 bayo-back from the dead

The country that avoids war and the country that fights but has a hard time winning have been combined. The Swiss made some excellent firearms and the French made some unique and occasionally inspiring ones. We have added the Belgian and Dutch since they are neighbors.

Model 1863 bayo-back from the dead

Post by plantfoam » Thu Mar 11, 2004 5:27 pm

I picked up a model 1863 "peabody" bayo recently, but as you'll see it was well past its glory days:

However, I let it soak in some CLP for a while, and then gave it a good old-fashioned scrubbing with some steel wool.

This turned out better than I expected, and the locking ring works perfectly. Now I just need one of those crazy falling block rifles to put it on!:loco:;

Well, the Peabody will just have to wait, won't it? ;

The pics were even pulled by the time I got home...let me guess, the broken sling loop was on the but end?

Phil,

Looks good. A definite feeling of accomplishment in restoring, isn't there?

Hey Frank, is your profile e-mail a new one or something? I tried to write you earlier this week.

Once a week board? Not quite...just a small community...we grow just a little everyday:D;

Phil I did send you a reply about a week ago. Important to know is that the email address in my profile is just for receiving emails and I use a different one for the reply so better check your spam filter ...LOL (I'll forward it again)

Btw let's choose a fixed day of the week to post here then as I noticed some post-less periods here..;)

Thanks,

Guisan.:D;
