A Couple of Vetterli's
Haven't been here in a little while so figured I might do some catching up.
Picked this Vetterli up with in the last year. Had to have her due to the tiger stripe in the butt stock. Bore was shiney and clean and the rifle had every thing but the cleaning rod. That problem was solved by a good friend. Czech is credited with the reproduction sling and is making a frog and scabbord for the bayonet.
After I first received it.

Different thing here is that the 69/71 receivers are in the white and this one shows an old blued finish.

Picked up this M78/81 just a couple of weeks ago. She is all matching and solid as the 69/71. Couple of minor things to fix on her but will give me something to do. Lifter arm spring is broke and rear sight is bent, parts in route.

This one had the extra firing pin under the butt plate.

I bought my Vetterli M81 about 1½ years ago.
It is one of my favorite rifles.
I bought it from a collector and had it transformed to CF by a gunsmith.
This gunsmith also sold me some of his 10.4x42R cases (reformed from .348 Winchester).
I only shoot BP in my Vetterli. so I have no need for a die set.
The powder I use is German WANO PP (38gn) and to fill the airgap between the bullet and the powder I use cous-cous.
I cast the bullets myself using a LEE mold bought from Guisan.
The mold is made after the specifications of the original bullet.
I tried both the flat base (345gn) and hollow base (320gn) bullets and found out that the hollow based ones were more accurate.
COL of the bullet is 62.8mm/2.47"
With this Vetterli came an original Swiss cleaning set.
Here are some pictures.
Met vriendelijke groet,
Martin
