The K-11 muzzle-cap & Canton mark....I think....
Here's the K-11 muzzle-cap that came on the latest K31 and a picture of what seems to be a Canton mark. It's just forward of the slingbar cut in the buttstock.
I have seen these circled numbers on M 1889 butts but not on the later rifles.

Which one is Number 4?

You do have a cantonal marking there, although I can't say which one. I've seen a few other ones on K-31's, on the left side of the buttstock. On the earlier rifles the markings are sometimes found on the top.

It looks like it has some nice wood on it as well.

Many thanks for the map, Frank;
Some of the older rifles also have the canton stamped on the toe of the buttstock. My 5 marked 96/11 has an AARGAU stamp there.

Top O' The Comb
Here's VAUD on the K-11...

Also, the muzzle cap "Home At Last". It actually doesn't fit a K-31 very well.

Thanks to Guisan, I am now going over all nine of the K31s with a fine-toothed comb and loupe, looking for little marks.;

Re: Top O' The Comb
Hi All,
Well thank you that explains the #7 stamped in my 1889's butt comb, I knew the rifle was from St gallen as it's actually marked StG:-

What I would like to know what is the J-D or is it I-D marking?

Best Regards. KP
