Michigan Swiss rifle shoot....May 21st!

The country that avoids war and the country that fights but has a hard time winning have been combined. The Swiss made some excellent firearms and the French made some unique and occasionally inspiring ones. We have added the Belgian and Dutch since they are neighbors.

Michigan Swiss rifle shoot....May 21st!

Post by plantfoam » Fri May 06, 2005 7:15 am

I have finalized all of the major details of the shoot, so here goes...

Where? We will be assembling at the Kembalaya Coffee House, a.k.a. "the perfect bean", in Linden, MI, USA, Earth.

When? Saturday, May 21st, at 1:30pm. We will be leaving for the range before 2pm, which is our designated shooting time.

What kind of shoot, do you say? This is a not-so-formal shoot for people who love Swiss rifles. All military Swiss rifles made between 1869 and 1958 in original configuration, without optics, are allowed.

There will be a timed relay, so you may want to refrain from using your Peabody.

How competitive is this? This is a low stakes shoot, with semi-exciting prizes for everyone; You may also hear a lot of BS (big stories) here too.

What do I need to bring? Your eligible Swiss rifle, a minimum of 27 rounds of ammunition for that rifle, and $10 for the entrance fee. Also, don't forget your hearing and eye protection, and anything else you usually need at the range.

What does my $10 get me? This takes care of your range access and targets. Everyone who participates will receive a vintage Swiss shooting medal, and there will be special prizes for 1st place in the relays, and the winner of the good 'ole "closest to the X" plate shoot.

How do I sign up? Those who plan on attending must email me at plantfoam@aol.com. Please include your screen name, and your first name so that I can get to know everyone. Space is limited to the first 15 people who say "I want in", so I hope that we can get everyone in.

Bonus features: At this shoot, there will be a wide variety of Swiss rifles and accessories. I'm hoping to have a little bit of everything there so that we may all learn a thing or two, myself included. After the shoot, the range will be open to anyone that wants to stay and fire any other rifles they may have brought with them. Also, if you ask nicely, you may get to shoot some unique and just plain weird stuff (the focus of my collection) ;

regards,

Phil
