k31

The country that avoids war and the country that fights but has a hard time winning have been combined. The Swiss made some excellent firearms and the French made some unique and occasionally inspiring ones. We have added the Belgian and Dutch since they are neighbors.

Im new to this board and I need alittle info on buying a k31. Who is selling the best k31 now ? I would like a pre war k31, 1936 or 1937 since I have been told that they are alittle better than the ones made during the war. What is the easiest way to tell the year they were made?

I found out by the serial number on mine that it was made in 1942 which I believe is how they checked for the year on all of them but I'm a beginner in the field of swiss rifles someone else with more knowledge will be along to give you the correct answer soon:D;

welcome to the board.

I have pre-war, wartime, and post-war K-31's, and I don't think that any certain period produced better rifles than the other. You might find some light machining marks on the wartime rifles, but they are built to the same standards as the rest.

You can find rifle manufacture dates by serial number here.

You got it right LoLo, I think I should have picked it up.

Where do you get your k31 from? Im looking for one that does not have alot of stock dings and scrapes and having 85% or better bluing. I might be expecting to much!!! I seen one on a gun auction site that was like new but it was priced way up there. I guess Ill keep looking.

I have a 33,34,42,43,44, and 48 and they are all built to the same standards. I recomend www.allans-armory.com if you want a truly hand picked rifle.

I got all of mine but one from Allan's Armory. I've always liked his descriptions and dates to pick from. It may be hard finding one without a lot of dings though as the Swiss were pretty tough on the wood while in training.
