Just got my C&R. First words I said to the old lady, "I'm going shoppin',honey."
I'll be reloading. I can get the brass from Graf, and I believe the bullets are .308s, right? What type of of .308 bullet for 100 yds? What powders and weight do you recommend?

Re: reloading info
Last time I checked, Graf's still had brass. Yes, .308 is the correct bore diameter for all Schmidt-Rubins, including the 1889, unless they were modified of course<!--EZCODE EMOTICON START --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)">;

I prefer lighter loads, and I'm currently using Winchester 147gr bullets, and 37gr of IMR 3031.

Powders
I have had best results with Varget and Reloader 15.Howver,4895 4064 should give good results as well.Other than match bullets I find the Hornady 165 softpoint boattail to work out very well.I would suggest the new Redding dies with the K31 chamber configuration.Will

7.5 reloads
So far, the best (most accurate) load I've found is 44gr of IMR 4064 with a Sierra 168gr HPBT Matchking. Used Federal 210M (match) primers and .284 Win brass. Groups under .65" @100 yards (scoped K31) --assuming I do my part !!!
If someone will ever get any 7.5x55 brass available, I'll go ahead and buy a bunch. So far virtually every source I have checked has it "on order", but none currently available unless you acquire it by purchasing new loaded ammo.
BTW: Nice to find another Swiss forum!!!!!!!!!
