Questions ... Anyone ... HELLO
Anyone have questions, photos, etc., etc. they want to share.
This area is dead and if does not get useda bit ... I will have to remove it.
I have bought a "few" new Mle.1886 M.93 since I have gotten back from Iraq but right now have been concentrating on shooting better for next years CMP National Matchs at Camp Perry.

Duncan,
How does the 1777 Charleville compare with its contemporaries (I'm thinking mainly of the Tower musket series) - In terms of recoil and accuracy?
I've only ever fired a repro Brown Bess (repro of 1763 Tower) (0.75" calibre as opposed to the French 0.69"), I've no experience of the French weapons. I'd be interested in your comments.
Best wishes.
Tom

Hi Tom.
Can't answer that because I haven't fired it. What I can say is that the weapon has a lot of woodworm holes in the stock and I have only seen it once, on the day of the celebration. I have a lot of photographs of it and the range so will sort out a few more and post them soon to give you an idea of our setup here. Another of my friends, Alain, has a couple of replicas which you might like to see!

Looks like FUN ... maybe I need to come to France now and shoot with you all. I need to get to the archives at both Saint Etienne and Châtellerault for more information on Mle.1886's.

Patrick - it's your lucky year. We have a Gîte which any forum members can rent for cost less 15% and I can offer you range time on Saturday, Sunday and Monday mornings FOC!
The range is part of the Citadelle de Blaye which was garrisoned by the French to the end of WWI and then used by the Germans as an HQ in WWII. It was originally built by Field Marshal VAUBAN between 1685 & 1689 and is in very good repair.
Look forward to seeing you soon!
