Old Mannlicher-Schoenauer

The country that avoids war and the country that fights but has a hard time winning have been combined. The Swiss made some excellent firearms and the French made some unique and occasionally inspiring ones. We have added the Belgian and Dutch since they are neighbors.

Old Mannlicher-Schoenauer

Post by oldironsights » Thu Jan 01, 2009 3:14 pm

Thought I would post a few quick, fuzzy photos of an unusual milsurp.

I picked this up from an estate sale for 325 US dollars.

I was intrigued by the rotary magazine & 6.5 caliber.

I know. The addiction continues, but I like old Steyr rifles.

That looks like a Swiss cross on the reciever, thats why I shifted it here.

I know that these actions were on Greek rifles but the marking looks Swiss.

Perhaps it is good that the post was moved here.

There seems to be more traffic & interest in this area. :)

The action of my 6.5 mm Greek Mannlicher, unfortunately made into a sporter many years ago. I bought it at a gunshow over 20 years ago. Barrel is like a railway tunnel in the days of steam but it shoots very well and is spot on at 100yds.

Isnt that all that matters with some rifles, its nice to have a museum quality piece but the temptation to shoot them is overpowering!
I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy!
