Old picture time 3.. severals......

The country that avoids war and the country that fights but has a hard time winning have been combined. The Swiss made some excellent firearms and the French made some unique and occasionally inspiring ones. We have added the Belgian and Dutch since they are neighbors.

That's a Czech made tank called the Pzw 39 Praga LTL-H.

The Swiss had 12 of these when the war broke out and made 12 more theirselves.

It was in fact the main battle tank they had during the war and it was in use till 1950.

Thanks,

Guisan. :D

Ok, so now I know

I've seen one Swiss tank in person, and that was a postwar Hetzer D, which is a part of the Patton museum at Fort Knox....

Yep the Swiss purchased 158 of those in 1946/47.

They were made in Czechoslovakia with Skoda and used by the Germans during the war as "Hetzer"

The post war Swiss version was called the G13 and 94 of them had a Swiss made Saurer V8 diesel engine. The G13's were used till 1973.

See this link for lots of nice pics and stories...

Is that a saber peeking out beneath his coat?

Always great photos, G.
