1916 Spanish mauser shortgun

Post by Shawn » Thu Apr 28, 2016 2:00 pm

I recently purchased a 1916 Spanish Mauser in 7mm Mauser. The receiver doesn't have any marking on it. It also has a very low serial number T 4++7. Just wondering if anyone has any info on this rifle? Maybe the marking were ground off? Anyway just wondering if this gun can handle full power loads safe ? I already fired some Hornady lite mags in it with no problems. Don't know if it was a good idea after reading so people's comments on the subject. Thought I might take it hunting in the near feature.
Thanks Shawn H from Mt.

Thanks for posting Shawn. Some opinions should be coming along eventually. As I told you in an email, the 1916 that I have was converted to 7.62 Nato and that round in a small ring Mauser made for 7mm to begin with has been questioned as to strength on more than one site before. I'd be curious if anyone has any experience with the 7mm version too.
