I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy!

Re: Argentian modello 1891
Well its a smooth shooter thats for sure, recoil is light with the Norma factory ammo and the local gamekeepr I was out zeroing with was impressed. I need a taller set of scope mounts and then the Lyman 3x will make it look like a 1960's sporter. I am sure there is nothing on this island which it couldnt cope with!
The Keeper was very impressed, I was helping him zero his Tikka for foxing so I took it along. I have uploaded it on You Tube and his face is a picture, pleasant surprise that such a chunky cartridge could be so mild!

Re: Argentian modello 1891
I concentrated on Argentine modello 1891 Mausers, and I started with a DMW 1891 matching sportier rifle. It is a nice shooter with the stock cut short. The Argi 1891 has a two lug small ring bolt that cocks on closing- just the opposite of a 1898 three lug bolt. The actions are bare- not blued. I found a DMW matching 1891 Engineer Carbine with a sanded stock that goes to the 16 inch mussel- It looks beautiful. The 1891 Calvary Carbines do not have a bayonet lug. On GunBroker, I bought two Lowe 1891 antiques Engineer Carbines (Lowe turned into DMW in 1895, so all Lowe rifles are antiques) and paid $295 each. They are some of my prized milsurps I've had for 10 years
