Some while ago I bought a new Fin M39. I'd like to shoot it in US Civilian Marksmanship Program 'Vintage Military Rifle' matches. The rules of those matches require either a sling correct for the rifle, or a US GI web sling. The front sling swivel on an M39 is too small for both the metal ends of the US GI web sling and for the web sling spring's hook I have used on other rifles.
The Finnish green web sling does not look particularly useful.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Anybody shoot an M-N prone, with a sling?

For the M39 the carry sling was not used as shooting aid, as was done with the two piece M28 and M28/30 slings.
If you can not find a finnish M39 Sling, you can use a H&K G3 leathersling, its about the same dimensions.

SLING
I have used the Finn one peice green sling. It is thin but flexs well, which is to my liking.
Prone shooting with sling
You can Grind the clip on a GI sling to fit the width of the sling swivel of the rifle you shoot, also reroute the sling thru the sling adjuster end so that it goes thru only one slot so you have a tourniquet sling.
Put another ground clip on tourniquet end and you now have a carry sling.
Hope this helps
