Pictures from Finland trip

Post by awo425 » Thu Feb 21, 2008 2:36 pm

I did only take a few pictures in Tampere, was too bussy to dig through all the good stuff there.

Here a view from the second floor down to the main hall:

Some rifles:

Finaly pictures from the Hunting Museum in Riihimäki:

I was surpised, to see that KH had one of his personal rifles in the special exhibition about weapons collecting there:

Nice Maxim display:

Special thanks to Jarmo for this nice display:

Lemmy was a perfect tour guide, living encyclopedia of finnisch weapons, armour and canons in any available size :-)))))))))))))))

Lots of people at the show. Reminds me of some I have been to locally. Shows an interest exists all over the world in firearms and history related to some of them.

I've thought about bringing a camera to local shows, but nobody else seems to have one. I'd almost be afraid to take a photo because someone would think I was trying to take a picture of them buying or selling firearms for some negative purpose. But I've often wished I'd taken a picture or two of some guns I've seen.

It reminds me of some visits I had at those places some years ago. I'm glad you had fun Chris.

Glad to see you were able to meet Jarmo. He and Lemmy are two of my better friends over there and both have great collections. Jarmo has an unreal artillery collection as well.

I was shocked it is not a big deal to do this in Finland. In the US photos at a show are a no-no in almost all cases but in Finland it is not an issue at all. Some dealers will object but in most cases they could care less.

Yes, Jarmos Barn has some cool stuff inside and he has also some real nice rifles

All in all it was very nice up there, and I think, I will be there next year too.

Will we meet than at Lemmys bunker?????

After that experience it makes no sense for me to go to german gunshows anymore, I just save tha money and fly up to Finland, buing guns is no problem, just a bit of paperwork and you are done.

Got two Berettas waiting at a dealer right now

Sadly taking pics of that Berdan Display was not possible :(

I am planning on going next year. I think that I will be there this spring as well if all goes well. Yes the Lemmy bunker is quite nice as well. He has some good beer to go along with all those nice guns!

There are a lot of good guys in the areas north of Helsinki with some unreal collections.

I think Vic missed your bunker but did get to meet you a few times. I have not been to Germany since 1992 or so but would love to come back.

Turku Show --- I have been twice and it is a good show. It is about 1/2 the size of TamArms but still outstanding. Prices are a bit better at Turku. I have some plans in place to go in April but it depends as I might have a conflict in place.
