mg 42 semi bolt conversion
mg 42 semi bolt conversion
well folks here is my own design for a semi auto mg42
bolt conversion it's about 1/2 done at this point
first thing to do is to grind off the full auto sear from the bolt (red arrows)

Ground off and beveled.

next I removed the roller pin and took the bolt apart
The roller pin was removed by grinding off the peened over part at the bottom with a dremel tool
Then after quite a bit of time designing and working on the lathe I have concocted my own bolt conversion design.

Assembled

Red arrow points to where the roller assembly will screw into the rear firing pin sleeve green arrow shows where the firing pin stop collar will contact.
More to come

Just keep shooting we'll worry about it when the smoke clears.
A bit further along
Got a lot farther all that is left is the roller assembly and extension
Wide view of all parts.

Rear assembly and bolt parts
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v315/ ... 300457.jpg[/pic]
front assembly parts
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v315/ ... 300458.jpg[/pic]
firing pin and spring
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v315/ ... 300459.jpg[/pic]
sub assembly assembled to show how it is put together
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v315/ ... 300460.jpg[/pic]
A look at the rear of the bolt and how the pin is supported
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v315/ ... 300461.jpg[/pic]
the bolt head unlocked and the firing pin fully forward. As you can see the pin does not
even show in the pic thus it will not be able to reach the primer unless the bolt is locked in position
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v315/ ... 300462.jpg[/pic]
Now a look at the bolt in locked position with the pin fully forward.
