Egyptian Hakim & FN49

Post by oldironsights » Tue Oct 20, 2009 4:54 pm

OK, I will try this a third time using Opera. Perhaps Opera won't crash as I try to post this again! Damn Internet Explorer!
What a great autumn day to head to the range.
I took two of my favorite milsurp autoloaders that shoot the 8mm round.
Targets were placed 100 yards away from the shooting bench.
The Hakim was aimed at the lower paper plate on the silhouette, while the FN49 was aimed at the upper paper plate. I had to set the rear sight of the FN to 400 meters to get it to shoot to the point of aim at 100 yards. The Hakim shot to the point of aim straight away! :D
I was shooting a batch of Ecuadoran 8mm from 1956 that had been exposed to moisture, but every round fired like new ammo.

This FN49 has seen better days. It looks battle worn, but it still functions as intended.
Numbers match.
This rifle looks to have some British influence in its design.
The brass buttplate looks Enfield, & the stock fittings & two piece handguards remind me of the SMLE!

Great photos. The quality is excellent. Looks like the new range is a nice one too. I bet those rifles are fun to shoot as well.

Your going to faint if you see what FN-49's go for now a days....

Belgian or Lux in 30/06 bring top dollar

Then anything in 8mm

The Columbian in 7mm are about even.
