P38

Post by Niner » Fri Jul 08, 2011 12:07 pm

I got a P38 back about six years ago. I must have posted about, but with the various site changes of one sort and the other it must have gotten lost along the way. What brought it to mind is that I found this other messageboard that is devoted to P38's and Walther PP and PPK's and I started noticing some information that told me some things about mine that I had not known and I thought I'd give them a mention for anyone else who might be interested but aren't aware of the site. For instance, as something I learned.....from the serial number it seems mine was made in August of 1944. I already knew it was made by Spreewerk arsenal by the cyq. In any case....the war time P38 forum at the site should be at the end of this link:

Mine is all matching numbers and, although with a finish not up to the earlier Walther pistols, it shoots good and is in pretty decent shape. It has been refinished at some juncture. Probably came out of the Balkans or some former Russian satellite country.

I got to looking at the magazine. At first glance it looked like a modern replacement. All I noticed at first glance was a stamp that read P. 38v. Then I noticed the spine of the case. Nazi W A 135.
