Enfield, Number 2 Mark 1

Post by Niner » Sat Jul 14, 2012 8:51 pm

A friend was offered one of these. From what I can find from various sources these pistols were made late in the war for the British tank crews. It was double action only. It had no hammer because it might catch on something inside a tank. It was made as quickly and as cheaply as could be done as an expedient of war. Originally it had no safety even but later a safety was added after a few had been dropped and gone off.

Here is a photo of the kind of pistol . Maybe even the actual pistol. Anybody have an guess at what it is worth?

I have one that I bought about 6 years ago. I'll have to go see what I paid for it.

OK , first buy the revolver not the story , if you read up you will find the double action had more to do with those expected to be handling/using them , the mkI** has a hammer block to add safety as well

its either a mkI* or a mkI** , cannot tell without seeing the markings , that will tell us the mfgr , the date should be there as well , which will tell us if it was converted from a mkI , and the date will give a clue as to the correctness of the reeded thumb rest grip scales ,

all of that factors into the "value" , but as much as i see - between $250-350 if things are correct , more some places less in others , if this were a HAK , lots more
