Greeting to all.
I landed here via THR and decided to stay a while!
Thought you would like to see my Baker Rifle for starters.

It is ( I think ) an 1812/14 model which was bought by my grandfather in Lisbon, Portugal. The bayonet was not part of the original and I have added the sling, ramrod, leaf sight and flint clamp.

Good Reading
Just finished a book by Mark Urban which would interest anyone studying the war in Spain. It's called 'The Man Who Broke Napoleon's Codes - The story of George Scovell' ISBN 0-571-20538-0. He has also written a book about the 95th which is also a good read. Its called Riflemen and I will post the ISBN tomorrow as an edit.
Cheers
Duncan
Also by the same author ISBN number 0-571-21681-1 'Riflemen' also a very good read.

Welcome Duncan
Glad you found your way here from The High Road. I visit that site often myself.

Good question Joe. I have fired it once with a half load and a paper wad. It has been vcalued at at about £5000 so I don't want to blow it apart. I am now quite involved in Black Powder shooting here in France so have decided to shoot it after stripping and cleaning the barrel but with a sub-caliber ball and patch. Obviously I don't want to alter the original outer finish. Is it a shooter?
