S35 Japanesed T99
The 35th series was the last series made at Hiroshima Precture. The production for August 1945 was only about 1200 rifles. This rifle falls in the serial number range of the last day, August 5, 1945. It is in unfired condtion, matching with mum and wood and metal are perfect. riceone.

Now that's a good looking rifle
Thanks for joining us Riceone and thanks for posting the photos.
It looks to be in real good shape. Guess it didn't have time to have a hard military life. Noticed the mum still there and also noticed that it didn't have a dust cover. Do you think it ever had a cover over the reciever or, by that time in the war, do you think they stopped making them as they made short cuts with the "last ditch" rifles in other ways?

Dust cover on 35
S 35's did not have dust covers. One way you can tell if a rifle ever had a cover is to look in the grooves. If it ever had a cover the blue will show evidence of one being there. I have a 34, 33 and 32 that have not had covers. The 31could have one.
That is a nice looking rifle.
I saw a late war rifle in a shop here in the UK a few years ago. It had a rope hole stock and a four digit number. I didn't know much about them at the time and sometimes wonder if I had a 12th series rifle in my hands.

Rope Hole
According to MROJ the highest serial number reported on a 12th series is 898. I have a 11th with a four digit serial number and rear sling swivel with a one screw sling swivel. The 11th rope hole I have is in the 97K serial number range. I have a friend that has a 12 and it looks just like a 11 except for the series mark. For a long time I thought a 10th I had was a 12th. If stamped sloppy they are similar to a novic, that I was. riceone.
It might have been a three digit number
It is five years since I saw it. I still wish I had taken more notice of the details but it was just a last ditch rifle to me then and I didn't have the MROJ book at the time.
