Brass Rat,
The bullet trap will be made of sand.....lots of it.
I'll post pictures as soon as we start with that.
Robert.
We have about 150 members in our club.
I've got some range time tomorrow morning.
I'll ask about the building price then.
About heating and cooling the building.
We will only heat the place where the shooters are.
The warm air will circulate there.
Cooling will not be necessary because most of the building will be underground.
Only the small entrance building will be entirely heated or cooled.
I'll get back to you on this tomorrow.
Met vriendelijke groet,
Martin

Thanks Michael.
As promised elsewhere, I'll keep you all posted.
Robert,
I asked about the building price last Sunday.
The price will be close to € 300.000,-........that's about $ 390.000,-.
and yes....it will be opened to the public.
We have to do that to pay the bills.
We even have complete German gun clubs that rent the range 2 or 3 evenings a week for a period of one or even two years.
I haven't got much details on this but whenever I do I'll post it here.
Met vriendelijke groet,
Martin

100 yard ranges
Dave, a 100 yard range was recently built not far from me made from big concrete pipes. No danger area implications, unlike an open range. I presume he got planning permission for that, so not impossible.

Peter.

North of Leeds
I am a few miles north of Leeds. The pipe range is somewhere near Ilkley I think.

I looked at a house with a 1/3 of an acre garden and was going to build a pipe range underground for load testing. I think I could have managed 50 yards or maybe 100 if I had dug at an angle acros the garden. Doing it without the neighbours knowing would have been fun.
When I retire I want to build a house out in the sticks with a cellar firing point that goes out for 300 yards minimum across open ground to an earth back stop. Changing targets, well thats what the grand children are for! I may put CCTV in to watch the target!

I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy!
