Front sight height for a Berthier 1907/15 long rifle?
I've been un-bubbizing a 1907/15 Berthier rifle.
Got it cheap at a gunshow. Guy I got it from had found some barrel bands, but couldn't find a stock to finish the project.
I bought it and couldn't find a stock either, so I grafted on a replacement forearm. Have managed to do a pretty decent job carpentering up the stock and fitting the bands.
Managed to scrounge up a few missing bits such as band springs and a rear sling swivel. But have had no success finding a front sight. Also need to do something with my rear sight, as it has a lot of side to side play.
Since I have never before seen a Berthier in real life, have been doing my "research"(basicaly looking at pics of 07/15 rifles) online.
Since I can't find a front sight, I will just fabricate myself a sight.
I need somebody that actually owns an 07/15 rifle to measure the height from the bottom of the dovetail to the top of the blade. Inch, metric, I don't care. Just would like a measurement to start with.
If anybody has a 1907/15 long rifle and could measure the front sight height and post it for me, I would be extremely grateful!
Thanx, Stevie.

Here is a pic of the front sight of my Berthier 07/15. I hope it is helpfull.
The rear sight on my rifle has some sideways play. What is the best way of fixing this? A new pin?

Thanx! Definately a help.
I'm thinking that possibly the rear sight got clobbered while extended, maybe bent the pin or oblonged the pin hole. Looks ok externaly, but has a lot of movement off to the left side, but not excesive to the right.
I probably better find my skinny pin punch! Much as I hate driving out sight leaf pins, I guess it needs fixed.
Maybe I better start looking for a bayonet too.
Again, Thanks.
