Went through basic at Ft. Lewis in Aug - Sept 1967 with M-14, was told we were the last
group to use M-14, next cycle used M-16. Wish we had the M-16s, those M-14s were heavy......

Peace is that brief, quiet moment in history.......... when everybody stands around reloading.

Re: M1 Garand
I went from an M1 Carbine to a Garand and then to an M14 followed by an M16. Qualified Expert with all 4.
Somewhere around here I have all of my weapons cards for everything but the 16. Never got one for that, that I remember.
I managed to do a bit of fast manuvering (for the first 2 I was either unit armorer or supply Sgt so had access) and ended up with the first 3 all being Winchesters.
