Making a Sigma lens

I started this forum for any collecting hobby and it turned into my camera collecting and using forum. I use it mostly to keep a record of my photo adventures. Nobody but me seems to have photo adventures that visit here....but however. I have so many cameras now that I forget which is which and which ones work and which ones don't. If you have cameras and adventures you would be welcome to post here.

Making a Sigma lens

Post by Niner » Thu Nov 16, 2023 12:53 pm

Saw this video on making a camera lens. It takes a lot of engineering, sophisticated machinery, and skilled workers. The video is a bit long...because the process is a bit long just showing the steps as they are made in a modern plant in Japan. The lenses being made are by Sigma, which from my experience with old ones weren't exactly the best...but that was then and this is now and I have no idea how they stack up now days. The end product is a 24-70 2.8 modern lens for digital cameras... I've seen them advertused for Sony and for Canon. The retail prices run from $1050 to $1250 depending on for what model camera.
