Re: JUST BOUGHT A REPLICA BAKER RIFLE....
I sent them a Chapter and Verse explanation of my misgivings about the copy and a couple of pictures to underline my concern. They viewed that last Thursday at half past eight, since then, no more contact.

Re: JUST BOUGHT A REPLICA BAKER RIFLE....
Nothing positive Martin.
I have, however sent them another email citing the following observations by a gunmaker friend in the US who has seen a detailed photo of the lock.
"The battery/frizzen geometry is dreadful...and at several different points. The angles of the foot of the frizzen that rides on the spring and the adjacent frizzen stop that hits the spring and prevents the battery from opening too far are way off. The feather or frizzen spring is absolutely horrendous. Look how thick it is. The sear spring looks pinched in your photo, too."
I have also told them that I have come to the end of my patience

Keep sending them questions and remarks Duncan.
If it´s a decent company that sold you the rifle they should either send you a correct replica Baker rifle or refund your money.
Keep us posted.

Martin

Have a look at http://rajasthanarmoury.com/index.htm
Rajasthan Armoury, they made my Scottish pistol back in 1984.
Their sea service percussion pistols look rather nice.
They make Baker Rifles but the pic looks different to your new one.
Going to India in February for two months and will be in Udaipur so will look them up.

Re: JUST BOUGHT A REPLICA BAKER RIFLE....
Hi Joe,
Current situation is they say they are preparing another Baker, addressing all the points that I made and that when they had it finished they would send me photographs.
My last email to them was on March 18th and I got a reply on March 23rd.....
Dear Duncan,
The pictures haven't been forgotten.
We are still waiting on the barrels from the proof house - so nothing has changed as yet I'm afraid.
Kind regards
Jeni
Being me, I phoned the Birmingham Proof House today and explained my problem. They confirmed that Black Powder barrels for Derbyshire Arms take 6 weeks to process AND that currently they have no barrels in for proof.
So I have sent another email to Derbyshire Arms asking for a progress report..........
Since all this started to happen it has transpired that the Post Office and most Parcel Carriers are refusing to carry anything that they consider to be 'Hazardous Materials' such as empty cases, bayonets, powder etc., Anything found in X-Raying a parcel that they consider to be 'Hazardous' will be confiscated without compensation...........I asked Derbyshire Arms how they were going to ship the Baker to me - no reply to that one yet

Re: JUST BOUGHT A REPLICA BAKER RIFLE....
I suppose they wouldn't just send you your money back? Of course they may be quick to tell you "the check is in the mail". Which would be the most said lie since " I only want to feel of it".
