RC Mauser K98 IN UK

Post by ian27 » Sun Feb 04, 2007 7:25 am

Hi all, I am interested in getting a K98 and was wondering how good the RC Mausers are. I know most of them come with non matching bolt etc, and wonder in general how good the fit is in the receiver, I take it they were all made with pretty good tolerances.(I know this will vary from rifle to rifle) A friend has an all matching vet bringback with S/42 code and dated 1937 which, he assures me, he will part with at some stage, but I'm thinking of getting an RC until he does.

There is a company in the UK called Ryton Arms who are advertising deactivated K98's. Acccording to their website they have the following for sale ;

S/243 coded K98's at £240

G coded at £275

Various other coded ones at £215

They are advertised as having all marks, stamps intact. Butts match receiver and bolts, trigger guard etc have matching electro-pencilled serial numbers. I have contacted them and they said they could supply a live firing rifle, and I'm just wondering if anyone had any dealings with this Company or have seen any of the rifles. I know their condition can vary greatly from rifle to rifle. Whats your thoughts on the RC Mausers as a whole!! Obviously I will be going to shoot it!!!

Regards Ian

PS They also said they could supply a live firing, mint condition P38 with BYF43 or BYF 44 code for £300. damned tempted!!!

jd46561,

That sure is a nice rifle, thanks for posting the pics. There is no doubt that I will get a K98, problem is getting one in the right condition, good bore etc. I have looked at a couple at a dealers, but they were way too scrappy for my liking, and the guy was looking £400.

Regards

Ian
