Anybody intrested in varmit guns?

Post by speared um » Fri Oct 22, 2004 7:03 pm

What do you think is the overall best varmint caliber?

All my mil surps are big bore, but I'd like to find a good small caliber for target/small game hunting.

What is a descent brand of commercial rifle for smaller calibers?

Thanx dante'

My recommendations: .22-250 and either .243 Win or 6m/m Rem (for windy days). I have a Ruger77V tang safety in .22-250, and a Ruger77V tang safety in 6m/m. Both have Leupold 6.5-20X scopes, and long Harris bipods for sitting shots. Perfect rigs for woodchucks in PA. Would be good for praire dogs, ground squirrels, or rock marmots out West. Also devastating on called- in coyotes. Remingtons are great too. Winchesters too, although if you want a new Win, you better hurry.
