powder fouling vs. copper fouling

In my experience copper is not a problem as much as powder fouling. In

my quest for the ultimate bore cleaner, I stumbled across a truly remarkable bore solvent made by tipton. The name made me curious.

My .270 had build up at the crown due to powder fouling. After a couple

of hours of soaking I saw the rifling at the crown reappear....

FINALLY!!

Any way that the poop on that.

On another post I read about something thick that clings... I'm using

Tetra Gun copper solvent that seems to be cutting the copper quite

well. Purple patches are the result after a half an hour.

Seems this Arisaka 7.7 has been neglected.

I use alternating applications of a nitro solvent and Sweet's 7.62 copper solvent.

Copper and carbon fouling goes on in layers, you need to get rid of one before you can get at the next. See my post on cleaning Military rifle barrels, thats why I do turn about with Ed's Red for the carbon powder primer residue and the ammonia for the copper.
