New M1917 barrels from Criterion

Post by NuJudge » Sun Oct 18, 2009 4:43 pm

I bought a CMP Eddystone M1917 rifle earlier this year with a low Throat and muzzle errosion, but a dark bore. It would not shoot for sour owls, and instead of shooting the barrel making it brighter, it stayed DARK. It also shot wildly.

CMP announced earlier this year it had purchased a batch of M1917, 1903 and 1903A3 barrels, along with the Garand barrels they still have. I bought a '17 and '03 barrel. I had the '17 barrel mounted, shooting it for the first time yesterday with Greek HXP, and shooting a 200 yard reduced 50-shot National Match course of fire with it today. Yesterday groups were about 7 inches, today down around 3 inches, with the occasional flyer (probably my fault).

I'm very pleased with it.
