Ethan Allen pistol

Got the chance of examining and photographing a nice example of the Allens self cocking pistol last week. Thanks to Adam (Dromia) for sharing.

Ethan Adam applied for an American patent on a self cocking pistol lock mechanism in 1837, and though the design was first used on these single shot pistols
it was soon adapted for the revolving pepperbox pistols he developed in 1838 and in partnership with Gerald Thurber after 1840 at Grafton, Massachusetts.

This example appears about .36 calibre.

that is a cute little bugger , its quite immpressive as well
