Type 38 with bayonet

This is my Type 38 rifle with the bayonet in the other post fitted. Five feet fve inches from butt plate to bayonet point. A bit unwieldy in the jungle.

Not only unwieldy, but I bet that dust cover made a lot of racket too.

Keep in mind that the average Japanese soldier was only about 5'4" or 5'5" at the time, so they were carrying rifles that were literally almost as big as they were!
