Darrell scope mount.......

Post by Niner Delta » Mon Nov 19, 2012 4:42 am

Have been looking for a Darrell scout scope mount for my M38, no luck so far.
Found a used one on ebay and through my own screw-up, it got away from me....
Have searched the internet and can't find one anywhere, but will keep looking.
Seems they haven't been making them for about a year, anybody know what happened??
That's the latest info at Paralax Bill's, Darrell had his own forum there.

Yes, I know, thanks for making me feel so much better about my screw-up.....

Now that you have hurt my feelings and made me feel bad, to make up for that you should sell me your mount for
a reasonable price, then we will all feel better........  ....... (at least I will  )

Sorry is not for sale at the moment because its fitted on my Mosin Nagant. Dont want to upset you or any thing but its a cracking mount if you can find one you should buy it.
If I sell the Nagant I will give you first dibs on the mount though.

They seem to be the best ones out there, if I had one, I wouldn't sell it either..
Are the ones for a 91/30 any different from the M38/M44 style?
The rear sight on my M38 is soldered on, has a band that goes all the way around the barrel and
only has one pin holding it to barrel, at the rear of sight.

Couldn't find a Darrell mount, so I bought one of the cheap $13 ones from ebay. But I got the one that has the threaded screw holes in the mount instead of the little bolt that goes all the way through, it just looked a little more sturdy.
Got it and it didn't quite fit, the mounting screw holes didn't quite line up. The verticle face of the mount that's just below the screw holes didn't allow the mount to be far enough forward to line up the holes.
But my trusty Dremel tool took care of that in no time, and of course voided any warrantee.....
It seems sturdy enough and it certainly isn't going to be moving forward at all. It's all leveled with the barrel, just have to buy a LER scope. Found one on ebay, 2-7x32, that has a 13" to 17" relief, should work fine.
The only problem is that I recently ordered over 1150 rounds of various ammo, scope will have to wait until next payday... :(
